Nestled in the southernmost municipality of Union County, Rahway is a compact residential and industnal community. Just off exit 136 of the Garden State Parkway, it is ideally situated twenty minutes from Newark, thirty five minutes to New York City and forty minutes to the beaches of the New Jersey coastline. Settlers from Long island and New England were given land grants in the Rahway area circa 1665. The area's main attraction then, as it is now, is the Rahway River, whose three branches flow into Rahway and unite with the city's boundaries. The river and the city's convenient proximity to major highways and railroad routes from Boston, Philadelphia to Washington D.C. make Rahway a prominent location in state and county history. Rahway has all public utilities and employs a variety of
industries ranging from manufacturing, construction, finance
and public administration to pharmaceutical and health care
facilities and corporations. |
