Whether taking a holiday in the city, a family day visiting a museum, or an outing to the mountains or seashore, all are easily accessible. Convenience to New York City, which is approximately 45 minutes away, is a necessity for many of the residents who commute there each day. New Jersey Transit provides regular train and bus service to Newark and Manhattan. There are also connecting PATH and ferry service to New York City, and several private bus lines offer commuter coaches to New York. Monthly parking near the local train stations is available to residents. The Garden State Parkway, the New Jersey Turnpike, Interstate 78 and Highway 22 are all conveniently reachable. Newark Airport is just a few minutes away. Community centers, besides providing a place for senior citizens to eat and meet, offer transportation for outings and shopping excursions. In addition, the Red Cross chapter has vans, equipped for disabled persons, which provide pick up for medical visits or shopping trips for those unable to get about on their own. The area’s central location and nearness to excellent highways shortens trips to recreational areas, the mountains in the west and north and seashore to the south.
